In May 2016, we visited London for an extended bank holiday weekend. We visited two Slovenian friends working there and invited ourselves for a sleep over. Wizz Air once again proved to be our best choice with a low cost flight from Ljubljana.

Day 1

Although Luton Airport is a bit far from the city, we quickly reached central London by train. Our first accommodation was The Heron, a sleek skyscraper with incredible views. Jaka and Chengkai were fantastic hosts; we explored their neighborhood and enjoyed Mexican tapas together. That evening, Nina took me to the Royal Opera House to see The Winter’s Tale ballet. The interior was stunning, though I regretted not having my camera.

DAY 2

It was a rare clear day in London. We met Katja and Bojan for brunch in Hampstead, then enjoyed a sunny walk from Hampstead to the lively Camden. Greenwich Park was perfect for the weather, so we took a train to Cutty Sark and relaxed on the hill with great views of the city.

A tourist boat ride on the Thames took us under Tower Bridge and past HMS Belfast, ending at the Tower of London for some photos. We wrapped up the day with dinner at Shoryu, where the ramen was unforgettable—one of my top meals ever. Must. Have. Again.

DAY 3

We couldn’t expect two sunny days in London. We started with breakfast at Duck and Waffle, then explored the western part of central London. A boat ride took us to the London Eye, Westminster, and Big Ben. After a stroll to the crowded Buckingham Palace, we relaxed in St James’s Park. We enjoyed some shopping at Covent Garden market before ending the day. We stayed at Katja’s place for the night, closer to Luton Airport, for our early flight home.
